Course Description

Continue to learn everyday communication while exploring Japanese culture and customs. The emphasis is on oral proficiency with more practice in reading and writing Hiragana and Katakana, including some Kanji. Expand your knowledge of vocabulary and grammatical structures as you cover daily life topics on health and exercise, celebrations, and business trips.

Course Details

By the completion of this course, successful students will be able to:

  • Develop more confidence in oral and written communication in Japanese
  • Enhance your awareness of Japanese culture and business customs
  • Write a short journal in Japanese

 

Topics of instruction:

  • Business trips: having visitors in your office; introducing your colleagues; simple office communication; greeting visitors arriving at the airport and helping them check into a hotel; seeing visitors off and exchanging messages after the trip
  • Health and exercise: talking about how you are feeling, what you do to stay healthy and the exercises you do
  • Celebrations: Talking about present-giving customs; complimenting friends on their things; discussing what to do for a friend's celebration; create congratulatory messages
