Course Description
This course is intended for complete beginners and assumes no prior knowledge of the French language. It is ideal for learners who have never studied French before.
The course introduces fundamental communication skills through topics such as introductions, the alphabet, numbers, and dates. Students will also learn basic grammar concepts, including noun gender, adjectives and articles, the present tense of common regular and irregular verbs, and formal and informal forms of address.
Course Details
By completion of this course, successful students will be able to:
- Introduce yourself and use greetings and farewells
- Talk about your likes and dislikes
- Talk about personalities, clothing, and colours
- Make simple sentences in the present tense
- Ask and answer questions in the present tense

There is no formal assessment in this courses as it is not part of a certificate program. However, students can expect a number of assignments and quizzes which will help them and the instructor evaluate their progress in the course. Students will receive AT (attended) or NC (not completed) code on their transcript.
