Course Description

The kitchen is typically the heart of any home and requires detailed planning to make it functional, yet still aesthetically pleasing. Discover the most popular layouts in kitchen planning, cabinet and door styles, hardware selections, and colour palates. We will also identify different countertop options, lighting features and backsplash considerations while keeping in mind budget and timelines.

Course Details

By completion of this course, successful students will be able to:

  • Define the process of designing a kitchen
  • Identify the character/theme for the kitchen
  • Examine a variety of layouts
  • Identify various types of cabinets and appliances 
  • Explore colour schemes, materials and surface finishes
  • Explore types of lighting schemes used in the kitchen area
  • Work with a budget, cost estimates, design, and sub-trade professionals on a kitchen design
