Client Work Search Strategies: Resumes and Cover Letters

As career development professionals, clients look to us for guidance and sound strategies for a successful job search in an ever-changing labour market. In this course, explore effective job search techniques, including building powerful resumes and cover letters to support clients in achieving their goals. Topic areas include recognizing client skills, creating a value proposition, and preparing a resume and cover letter.

Course Details

By completion of this course, successful students will be able to:

  • Guide clients to explore and identify skills, interests and preferences
  • Inform clients of relevant job search techniques and how to effectively use them
  • Coach clients on how to create targeted resumes and cover letters
  • Support clients in identifying and overcoming barriers to employment
  • Review clients' work search documents and make suggestions for improvement
  • Provide constructive feedback on client-created documents

This is an Online Hybrid course with Online Synchronous Sessions held online in real time (Mountain Time). 

  • Zoom web conferencing software. To fully participate in the classes, students will need: an internet connection, and a reliable headset with microphone.
