Certificate for Emerging Leaders
Gail Johnson can list many things she learned in the ten Business Seminars that led to her Certificate for Emerging Leaders. Now that she has completed the program, she is determined to apply her new skills and become a successful leader.
"I've learned a great deal from these courses and now I'm working on implementing my learning at work," says Gail. "I found all of the seminars to be valuable and very rewarding. There were seminars I wasn't too sure of at first, but it's surprising how valuable some of them have turned out to be."
Gail enjoyed all of the people she encountered in her seminars. "I met so many amazing people," she says. "And the instructors were awesome, so experienced and compassionate to the students' needs."
Gail started University of Calgary Continuing Education courses in 2008 when she started to work for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
Today, in addition to completing her Certificate for Emerging Leaders, Gail has also completed a Certificate in Workplace Communication, and has two other certificates in progress: Office Applications; and the Certificate in Adult Learning specializing in Workplace Learning.
"I feel my new confidence, knowledge and skills are great assets to have in today's competitive workplace," she says.
In addition to working at the U of C and being a student, Gail has two daughters in university, and is an active volunteer for animal charities – another area where her new skills and confidence are being applied.
