Dr. Mahin Afshari obtained her PhD honours from the University of Calgary in 2010. Her PhD thesis was focused on laser spectroscopy of OCS clusters. Graduating as a top ranked student in her field, she has also been involved in PER (Physics Education Research) during her last two years of PhD program and for her Post doctorate fellowship, she has worked on an educational project involving teaching undergraduate courses and developing first year university lab tutorials. Her style in teaching upgrading Physics courses has been influenced by her recent research "cooperative learning versus lecturing in introductory physics courses".
