Course Description
This introduction to the basic structure of the Japanese language emphasizes oral proficiency, with some reading and writing (Hiragana). This course is for those with little or no background in Japanese.

- Use basic classroom expressions
- Give a simple introduction of yourself
- Talk about your family
- Talk about your favourite foods
- Read a menu and order food and drinks
- Talk about your home

Mizue Asai-Kaufmann, I am from Tokyo, Japan. I started teaching Japanese as an exchange teaching program in 1998 in Morrin, Alberta. Since 2005, I have been teaching Japanese with different age groups of students from kindergarten to grade 12 with heritage language and second language programs. I have been teaching with Continuing Education since 2014. I enjoy teaching classes and am interested in sharing Japanese culture and traditions in the classroom. My class will be energetic with a variety of activities. You will enjoy the journey of learning.
