Course Description

This course is designed for beginners in a French language class. Conversation topics cover introductions, the alphabet, numbers and dates. Main grammar points include gender of nouns, adjectives and articles, present tense of some regular and irregular verbs, and formal and informal forms of address.

Course Details

By completion of this course, successful students will be able to:

  • Introduce yourself and use greetings and farewells
  • Talk about your likes and dislikes
  • Talk about personalities, clothing, colours, and furniture
  • Make simple sentences in the present tense
  • Use prepositions of place
  • Ask and answer questions in the present tense

Notes

There is no formal assessment in this courses as it is not part of a certificate program. However, students can expect a number of assignments and quizzes which will help them and the instructor evaluate their progress in the course. Students will receive AT (attended) or NC (not completed) code on their transcript.  

 

If you have previous experience in French, you may contact our staff to discuss an appropriate starting level.

 

French is spoken in all classes, even at the beginner level.
