Course Description

Build foundational knowledge of workplace conflict management. This course offers an overview of conflict resolution which seeks to improve workplace dynamics by understanding conflict backgrounds and unravelling their intricate nature. With this foundation course, you'll uncover the essential skills needed to skillfully manage and swiftly resolve conflicts. 

Explore the importance of both intrinsic and extrinsic variables in play as well as personal factors of the leaders and the importance of effective communication towards successful conflict resolution.

By completion of this course, successful students will be able to:

  • Define the key terms, and concepts of conflict resolution
  • Identify essential tools for conflict analysis, reporting, and strategic planning
  • Describe the influence of gender, individual or organizational culture, power dynamics and other organizational and behavioural factors in conflict resolution
  • Identify the role of personal characteristics of a leader such as emotional intelligence, communication skills, leadership styles, and other personality traits play in becoming successful in conflict resolution
  • Compare various theoretical and practical frameworks and use effective tools and templates to manage and resolve conflict in workplace situations

This is an Online Hybrid course with Online Synchronous Sessions held online in real time (Mountain Time).

  • Zoom web conferencing software. To fully participate in the classes, students will need: an internet connection, and a reliable headset with microphone.

Unless notified, all online courses are available at 9 am MT the day before the start date. Students registering on (or after) the start date will receive access within one day of registration.
