Course Description

Incorporate ethical and Inclusive conflict resolution practices, strategies, and principles into your conflict management practices, helping you achieve sustainable outcomes and build meaningful relationships at the workplace.

Leveraging specific competencies and practical strategies to resolve conflicts that emerge from equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) conversations or situations is critical in our contemporary society. Neglecting these principles and practices leads to strained workplace relationships and exposes legal risks.

Learn to develop the cultural competencies and sensitivity required to navigate and analyze conflicts that emerge from different diversity dimensions and engage diverse team members and relationships equitably using theoretical and practical frameworks.

Course Outcomes

  • Identify the types of conflicts that emerge from different diversity dimensions issues and/or equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) conversations or situations.
  • Describe conflict resolution in the context of emerging trends and contemporary conversations related to the uniqueness of people, ideas, perspectives, ways of knowing or knowledge such as indigenous worldviews, practices, relations and reconciliation conversations within contemporary workspaces and dimensions of diversity.
  • Illustrate broader conflict management approaches needed to navigate and resolve conflicts from equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) conversations or situations in a manner that upholds EDIA principles and fosters an inclusive and harmonious work or social environment.
  • Explore approaches to incorporating conflict resolution in connection to EDIA and/or Indigenous relations issues and support practices that help accomplish shared objectives between individuals, teams, and organizations when responding appropriately.
  • Explain conflict management methodologies that frame and guide Sustainable Conflict Resolution through intercultural competencies and communication tactics development to ensure individuals, teams, and organizations' interests are met.

This is an Online Hybrid course with Online Synchronous Sessions held online in real time (Mountain Time).

  • Zoom web conferencing software. To fully participate in the classes, students will need: an internet connection, and a reliable headset with microphone.

Unless notified, all online courses are available at 9 am MT the day before the start date. Students registering on (or after) the start date will receive access within one day of registration.
