School Leadership Quality Standard Program
University of Calgary Continuing Education has been approved to deliver the courses that meet the requirements for the Leadership Quality Standard (LQS) certification. This program has been designed for Alberta certified teachers who aspire to be school principals in the Alberta education system.
Participants who successfully complete the 80-hour course will meet the Leadership Quality Standard Certification requirements as outlined by the Alberta Ministry of Education, and will also be awarded a University of Calgary Continuing Education certificate of completion.
The instructors in the program are principals and superintendents who have extensive experience and expertise in leadership roles in the Alberta education system.
Online
The online delivery mode is instructor-led through Desire2Learn (D2L). Instructors facilitate online discussions and meetings, post course outlines, assignments, and resources.
Blended
This delivery mode involves pre-work online, a condensed classroom (Summer/Fall residency) plus a 7- 10 week online schedule through D2L.
Two delivery options are available, including online and an intensive in-class cohort in the Summer and Fall. Each course will provide students with experiential learning that can be readily applied to their practice.
