Arriving Late to your Program
Students are expected to arrive in Calgary before the start of their program. If you arrive late and miss lectures or classes, you will be responsible for making up the missed classwork. If you miss an entire course due to late arrival and need to take it at a later offering, you will need to pay the additional tuition fees.
Impact of late arrivals
Late arrivals negatively impact a student's overall experience as they lead to missed classes and course work. Students in this situation often experience difficulties in making up the time they were absent. Most of our classes are delivered in real time (in person or online synchronous), which includes class participation and interactions. In order to ensure a fair and undisrupted experience for all class participants, students needing to miss time may need to take the course at a later date and pay additional tuition fees. Special accommodations and/or changing assignments is not a reasonable expectation for students who will be arriving more than two weeks late to the program.
Study permit delays
You must apply for a study permit at least 3 months prior to your program start date. If you do not receive study permit approval at least 15 days before the program start date or if your application is still in progress, you will need to submit documentation (for example: a copy of the study permit refusal letter, or a copy of the application status webpage indicating it is still in progress).
If your study permit status causes a significant delay, you will not be able to begin your program as planned and will be automatically transferred to a future term. For example, if you applied for admission for the Fall 2023 term but are unable to get a study permit prior to the Fall 2023 start date, you will be transferred to the Winter 2024 term. If you will be arriving more than two weeks late, you will also be automatically transferred to a future term.
If your study permit is rejected but you are planning to re-apply, please send us documentation of the rejection and we will transfer you to a future term.
Withdrawals
If you wish to withdraw because your study permit is rejected or you will not get study permit approval at least 15 days before the start date, you must let us know 15 days before the program start to get a full refund minus the deposits. Deposits are always non-refundable.
You will not receive a refund if you decide to withdraw from the program for any other reason.
