Dalip Nagassar

Certificate in Real Estate Development

Until now, Dalip Nagassar was the only one in his family who had not attended the University of Calgary. His wife and two children had all been students at U of C, but he had earned his Bachelor of Engineering from Concordia University in Montreal.

Now, like the rest of his family, Dalip has a relationship with the University of Calgary. He is a recent graduate of Continuing Education's Real Estate Development Certificate, a program that he believes will benefit him in his role as a project manager with the Calgary Airport Authority. He's been in his position for over 15 years, and worked as an engineering consultant for several years before that. Throughout his career, he's been involved in many aspects of land development.

"I've definitely learned some new things in this program," says Dalip. "For me, it's filled the holes that needed to be filled. I felt the material in the program was valuable. I liked that the instructors' knowledge came directly from the workplace."

Dalip didn't start out planning to take the full Real Estate Development Certificate program. "At first, it was one course that I thought would be useful... and then I decided to take a couple of courses about law... and eventually, I'd made my way through the whole program."

"I have a lot of experience in land development, but this program underscores that," he explains. "Now, I have a credential that makes the statement that I'm qualified in this area."

Dalip enjoyed being back in the classroom and in a school environment. "I found I wanted to do well in my courses. I wanted to show my kids my A's. I wanted to see if I could keep up with the young people in the classes. For presentations, I worked very hard to do well."

Having enjoyed his classes, Dalip decided to continue learning and has moved on to Spanish classes through Continuing Education.
