Superintendent Leadership Quality Standard Program
University of Calgary Continuing Education has been approved to deliver the courses that meet the requirements for the Superintendent Leadership Quality Standard (SLQS) certification. This program has been designed for Alberta certified education professionals who aspire to be superintendents in the Alberta education system.
Participants who successfully complete the 49-hour course will meet the Superintendent Leadership Quality Standard Certification requirements as outlined by the Alberta Ministry of Education and will be awarded a University of Calgary Continuing Education certificate of completion.
The instructors in the program are superintendents who have extensive experience in leadership roles in the Alberta education system.
Education professionals applying for superintendent leadership certification must meet the Alberta Ministry of Education requirements. These include completing the leadership coursework (SLQS Certification) and other requirements identified in the Superintendent of Schools Regulation:
- Hold Alberta leadership certification
- Hold a Master's degree acceptable to the Minister of Education
- Have three years of experience in a school system

Blended
This option involves pre-work online, a condensed classroom (Summer/Fall/Winter) residency and four weeks of online instruction using D2L.
Classroom
This option involves pre-work online and a seven-day classroom intensive.
You may expect to participate actively by contributing to class discussions, working collaboratively and providing peer reviews.
