Course Description

Building on Italian 3, this course focuses on developing conversational skills in various contexts while continuing to build a strong grammatical base. 

Course Details

By successful completion of this course, successful students will develop skills in: 

  • Listening: Grasp the meaning and respond to moderately complex conversations and audio material related to the thematic and linguistic content of the course.
  • Speaking: Express ideas using vocabulary related to authentic and non-stereotypical situations (culture/geography/history/ literature/art/music/science/the environment/food and fashion) in the present past and future tenses.
  • Reading: Get the gist and respond to readings of authentic material (advertisements, schedules, brochures/ short newspaper articles and short literature excerpts.
  • Writing: Write short messages and letters in the present, past and future tenses.
  • Culture: Become increasingly aware of cultural features of Italy and share in discussion to explore interesting points of divergence and convergence between the Italian and Canadian cultures.

Prerequisites

ITA 103 Italian 3 or an equivalent level of fluency.
