Course Description

This pilot is open to current undergraduate students at UCalgary.

This microcredential introduces entrepreneurial thinking as a versatile mindset applicable across all disciplines. Students will explore the distinctions between inventors, innovators, and entrepreneurs, and learn to identify opportunities for innovation within their fields. Through practical tools and frameworks, students will examine risk management, values, impact, and value creation while encountering diverse examples of entrepreneurial thinkers. This microcredential provides a foundation for developing an entrepreneurial mindset that students can apply throughout their academic and professional lives.

Course Details

By the end of this microcredential, students will be able to:

  • Define entrepreneurial thinking and related concepts. 
  • Differentiate between inventors, innovators, and entrepreneurs and identify their relationship to students' entrepreneurial thinking journey. 
  • Identify opportunities for innovation or creativity within their field of study that enrich lives and enhance society.
  • Review two to four tools and frameworks used in entrepreneurial thinking. 
  • Recognize the role of ambiguity in entrepreneurial thinking, and identify some strategies to manage risks
  • Illustrate the concepts of values and value creation; identify opportunities to continuously apply and develop their entrepreneurial thinking skills; and 
  • Recognize the many faces of entrepreneurial thinkers
