Course Description

While generational diversity can be a powerful asset, it can also lead to misunderstandings or missed opportunities for collaboration. Today’s workforce includes up to five generations working side by side, each shaped by different life experiences, values, and communication preferences.

This course unpacks generational differences and examines the practices to discover shared strengths. Participants will leave with practical strategies to build trust, communicate effectively, and create a more inclusive and respectful workplace for all ages.

Course Details

Upon completion of this course, successful students will be able to:

  • Identify major trends and conversations about traits and drivers of different generations in the workplace
  • Recognize common definitions, differences around generational cohorts, and the multiple facets of generational identity that lead to intergenerational biases, assumptions and address.
  • Explore Generational differences in work values, outcomes, and their relationship to person and organization values fit.
  • Explore organizational development mechanisms and tactics to build stronger, cross-generational relationships within teams, moving the culture from silos to synergy.
  • Examine different workplace Scenarios related to working with and Managing Multiple Generations.
  • Examine individual and group behavioural practices that foster work trust, engagement, and collaboration.
  • Apply critical thinking skills in the real-world workplace. Generational Differences Scenarios that build bridges and eliminate tensions

Topics of Instruction

  • Understand the common definitions and differences around generational cohorts,
  • multiple facets of generational identity
  • Learn effective problem-solving and effective communication techniques across age groups.
