Course Description
C3 offers immersive experiential learning through either an industry internship, where trainees apply their quantum computing skills in a professional setting, or an entrepreneurship bootcamp for those pursuing startup ventures. The module culminates with the IQuCode Workshop, where trainees present the outcomes of their internship or bootcamp to peers and industry professionals.Course Details
C3 Learning Outcomes:
By the end of C3, trainees will be able to:
- Apply quantum computing knowledge and skills in a real-world professional or entrepreneurial environment.
- Demonstrate proficiency and adaptability through practical experience gained during an industry internship or entrepreneurship bootcamp.
- Develop project management, communication, and problem-solving skills relevant to quantum technology applications.
- Collaborate effectively with professionals and peers in multidisciplinary settings.
- Present and communicate the results and impact of their experiential learning clearly and confidently to academic and industry audiences.
Upon successful completion of iQuCode Introduction (C1) and iQuCode Advance (C2), including their experiential components, trainees will receive a micro-credential badge certifying their skills and competencies in applied quantum computing and professional development. A second, stackable, micro-credential badge is awarded to those who continue on to complete iQuCode Industry Internship or Entrepreneur Experience (C3).
To remain eligible for micro-credentials, trainees must commit to maintaining an up-to-date CV and/or reporting relevant academic and professional activities to program administration throughout their participation in the program.
Admission is competitive and based on meeting these prerequisites and a best practice review of applications. Limited spots are available, though additional students may be admitted without funding depending on capacity.
Notes
The program will be open to graduate students and trainees (master's, PhD, and postdoctoral scholars) involved in quantum science and technology at participating universities – University of Calgary, Université de Sherbrooke, University of Alberta, McGill University, and Polytechnique Montréal.
To participate in iQuCode Industry Internship or Entrepreneur Experience (C3), students must have completed iQuCode Introduction (C1) and iQuCode Advance (C2). Additionally, applicants are expected to commit to maintaining an up-to-date CV and regularly report their academic and professional activities to program administration throughout their participation.
