Course Description

Social workers in health and human services settings face complex documentation decisions that can have profound consequences. Substandard documentation can harm clients and patients, and expose social workers to the risk of ethics complaints and litigation. This workshop follows the February 9, 2023 AHS Grand Rounds that provided an introduction to these issues. This workshop will provide an in-depth exploration of ethics and risk-management challenges related to social work documentation. Dr. Frederic Reamer will provide a conceptual overview of documentation challenges; case examples; current ethics-based documentation standards; and practical documentation tips. The workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions.
