Course Description

Using Dr. Brené Brown principles, Alisha Datoo, Certified Daring Way Facilitator will demonstrate how shame and vulnerability can cause the use of armor such as numbing, perfectionism and shame shields.  Collectively, these can lead to disconnection and exacerbate many mental health challenges which clinicians see in clients. Through this course, you will also be able to teach clients how to move closer to authenticity using the core value and marble jar frameworks. Alisha will also guide you through the five components of empathy and three components of self-compassion, as tools to aid in connecting with, and modeling for clients going through adversity. 

Course Details

By completion of this course, successful students will be able to:

  • Increase self-awareness around core values which is a foundation for healthy boundary setting with clients
  • Identify the different ways shame and vulnerability can manifest in clients’ experiences and teach them to apply the resilience framework provided 
  • Understand the components of trust and how to use it, personally and professionally, in building a support network 
  • Strengthen client relationships using the outlined components of empathy and self-compassion and as a tool for self-care and preventing burn out
