TI 0792 - Introduction to UCalgary's Experiential Learning Platform (Orbis)

Course Description

The University of Calgary seeks to make Experiential Learning a cornerstone of the UCalgary experience by 2025. In Winter 2021, we launched a platform to increase the visibility of EL activities, support administration of EL programs at a larger scale, and track metrics related to EL. This session provides an overview of UCalgary’s Orbis platform with a focus on the using the Experiential Catalogue to promote opportunities and the Experiential Module to track or manage activities. Along with a workflow demonstration, it will showcase existing uses of the platform and demonstrate the data that is available to users.

By the end of this session participants will: 

• Learn about UCalgary’s Experiential Learning Platform
• Learn how to promote EL activities to students through the Experiential Catalogue 
• Understand the functionality of the Experiential Learning module 
• Review how other programs use the tool to manage or track their EL activities 
• See an overview of the data available in the platform 
• Consider applicability of the platform for their programs
