Course Description

In this workshop we will discuss best practices for an inclusive STEM learning environment as informed by ecofeminism. The discussion will explore and examine the pervasive masculine culture and meritocratic ideologies of STEM culture, considering how the logic of domination is an underlying worldview within STEM classrooms. The workshop will be participatory, where we aim to create knowledge and new understandings together as a community.

At the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • Articulate specific examples of STEM education culture, and the pervasive masculine and meritocratic ideologies that remain invisible.
  • Examine STEM culture from an ecofeminist perspective.
  • Discuss approaches to improving inclusive teaching pedagogies through best practices from ecofeminism.

Facilitators: Robyn Mae Paul, Dr. Laleh Behjat, and Dr. Robert Brennan
