Course Description

Treasures and Mysteries of King Tut

King Tutankhamun was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh who was the last of his royal family to rule during the 18th dynasty in 14th century BCE. He inherited the throne at the age of nine and married his sister Ankhesenamun with whom he lost two daughters. Almost everything we know about King Tut’s past comes from his tomb and his mummified body alongside thousands of treasures discovered by Howard Carter in 1922. We will examine King Tut's tomb and the artifacts found buried inside, discuss his life and his brief reign, and trace his lineage to his father, the enigmatic Pharaoh Akhenaten and his Queen Nefertiti whose religious revolution turned ancient Egypt to chaos.
