Course Description

The University of Calgary Teaching Awards Program recognizes the many outstanding contributions that faculty and staff across the academic community make to enriching the quality and breadth of student learning. Representing one of the most comprehensive teaching awards programs in Canada, recipients of this prestigious institutional Teaching Award are selected through a formal adjudication process, based on evidence presented in a nomination package, including a nomination letter, and a nomination dossier.

Dossiers present an integrated summary of our philosophy, approaches, achievements, and contributions to teaching and student learning. The goal of this session is to provide an opportunity for participants to actively explore the process of creating a dossier for the University of Calgary Teaching Awards Program.

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  1. Reflect on and articulate your beliefs about teaching and learning and how they connect to your teaching/learning/educational strategies
  2. Describe the key components of a dossier
  3. Select and present documentation that provides evidence of the scope and quality of your practice, and influence on student learning
