Videos can be used within course contexts to introduce new concepts, demonstrate new skills or complement classroom activities. This session will introduce basic visual design, layout elements, storyboarding and video production basics. We will showcase some available applications through the University of Calgary IT Software Distribution site and the Design Studio at the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning.
If you have an iPad or iPhone, please bring it to the workshop for some hands-on activities. We will have a few spare devices as well.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify and utilize available technologies to create a simple teaching and learning video
- Evaluate various types of instructional videos and determine which form may best engage students and support the intended learning outcomes
