Course Description

Prepare to dive deeper into your finances in this course which covers topics gathered from participant feedback in the foundational course. Goal-based planning will expand your focus into all aspects of your financial life for retirement and other life events. Recent updates in estate, trust, taxation, insurance as an investment class and financial planning will be discussed in detail. You will learn how to apply information to analyse and prioritise your financial position and establish goals to achieve them. You will recognize the benefits of investing at a young age for yourself and/or to explain investment concepts to your children and grandchildren.

Course Details

By completion of this course, successful students will be able to:

  • Recognize the importance of the financial planning process, retirement and investment planning concepts, enhanced estate planning issues and wills preparation.
  • Evaluate and apply information presented to analyze and prioritize your financial position and establish goals to achieve them for all life events.
  • Discuss and critique recent trends in financial management topics and timely market condition updates.
  • Analyze and apply the information learned in discussions about investments, retirement, insurance and wills and estate issues.


This course is recommended for students who have taken PIW 112 Foundations of Personal Financial Management or equivalent or who have some previous experience with personal financial management.
