Course Description

Microsoft Excel Level 1 has been designed to reinforce workforce skills. Students learn to create and edit professional-looking spreadsheets for a variety of purposes and situations.

Students work on real-world problems like the ones they will encounter in the workplace ensuring they are ready for real professional challenges.

  • Enter data into a worksheet

  • Change the structure of a worksheet
  • Add and remove worksheets to a workbook
  • Obtain an introduction to and use simple formulas in a worksheet
  • Display and print formulas in a worksheet
  • Format cells and numbers in a worksheet
  • Emphasize different worksheet areas
  • Apply range names
  • Preview and print worksheets
  • Customize the page setup for printing worksheets

  • Online and in class students need access to Microsoft Excel 2016 outside lab/class time to work on assignments, projects, or other course work. This software may be downloaded from Microsoft

  • This course does not have prerequisites, students must however meet the recommendations and requirements in the Notes section along with any proficiencies identified below.

Proficiencies

  • Students must be familiar with the personal computer, keyboard and mouse.
  • Students must have Microsoft Windows skills and knowledge, and be able to perform the following tasks:
    • start and run Windows
    • use the taskbar, Start button and Help feature
    • use Minimize, Maximize, Restore Down/Up and Close
    • use the left and right mouse buttons appropriately
    • understand file management techniques
    • navigate between files, folders, or drives
