TI 0970 - Reflection through Poetry
Course Description
Personal and professional growth through reflection is common among educators in a higher education setting. Yet reflection rarely embraces the emotions and feelings of our journey and critical lessons. Through poetry, we can move out of our comfort zone while creatively writing and telling our stories, whether to ourselves or others. During this session we will explore poetry as a creative and critical reflective practice, grounding our work in scholarly literature and personal experience. Participants will have time to begin their own creative story through poetry. The facilitators do not claim to be poets, and as such we are demonstrating that anyone can use poetry in their reflective practice.
During this session, participants will have the opportunity to:
-Bring poetry into their own reflective practice
-Challenge their own comfort zone by reflecting on and telling their own story
-Consider how to use poetry and/or other forms of creative reflection in their teaching
Guest Speakers: Cari Din, Craig Ginn, and Robyn Paul.
Please note: Registration will close 2 business days before each workshop. Participants will receive relevant Zoom information via email at least 1 hour before the designated start time.
