Course Description

This half-day workshop is part two in a series. Participants will review grief theory and how it relates to trauma-informed care. Participants will take the theories and models of grief and trauma that we learned in part one and learn how to apply evidence-based interventions and strategies to promote healing and resilience in clients experiencing grief and related trauma. Participants will also explore their own experiences of grief and trauma as part of the universal human experience.

Outcomes/Learning Objectives:
  1. Understand grief theory and how it relates to trauma-informed care.
  2. Explore the nature of grief as a response to symbolic loss, ambiguous loss, disenfranchised grief, and bereavement.  
  3. Understand the pivotal impact of grief and trauma when working with a variety of clinical concerns.
  4. Understand the impact of grief and trauma on mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health.
  5. Explore a variety of clinical applications, concerns, and interventions. 
  6. Explore our own experiences of grief.
