Course Description

Building invaluable human connections in organizations requires HR Leaders to embrace conversations about equity, diversity dimensions, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) in work environments. This allows for building strong human connections in a collaborative, healthy, inclusive way recognizing the diversity of people, ideas, perspectives, ways of knowing, and knowledge capitalizing on each employee's strengths, and leveraging growth through inclusive principles and values.

Enhance your people and culture initiatives by leading accessible and inclusive projects that incorporate the critical development and implementation of practices and perspectives needed to foster deeper relationships in organizations. Uncover practical information about the different dimensions of EDIA and how to create and implement EDIA initiatives.

This course will offer useful strategies, policies, and example case studies to demonstrate best practices.

 

Course Details

By the completion of this course, successful students will be able to:

  • Identify which employee relations issues impact EDIA and/or Indigenous relations issues and support practices that help accomplish shared objectives between individuals, teams, and organizations when responding appropriately.
  • Explore approaches of incorporating Indigenous Worldviews, Practices, Relations, and Reconciliation Conversations within contemporary workspaces and dimensions of diversity, including diversity of people, ideas, perspectives, ways of knowing, or Knowledge.
  • Describe the people and culture resources, tools, and relationships required to implement practices, initiatives, and processes that promote an equitable, diverse, inclusive, and accessible work environment.
  • Describe a variety of EDIA training concepts that are used to facilitate crucial conversations on organizational EDIA challenges such as common ground, facilitated conversations, cultural sensitivity, unconscious bias, accommodation, inclusive management, community engagement, and anti-oppression.
  • Explain HR project management methodologies that frame and guide stakeholders working on human connection projects within an organization to determine priorities and areas of focus for equity, diversity, inclusive, and accessibility projects.
  • Outline the different dimensions of diversity within an organization (gender, age, race, disability, etc.) reflecting on recognized approaches and tools to employee engagement, conflict resolution, and collaborative work within these different dimensions.
  • Investigate potential legal ramifications that can arise from EDIA and challenges facing specific identity groups focusing on the laws, policies, and processes that prevent workplace harassment.
