HRM 510 - Human Resource Generalist Diploma: Applied Learning Project
Course Description
Human Resources Generalist identify, create, and lead their projects from start to finish within an organization.
This 35-hour experiential online applied learning project course, bridges knowledge, and experience through critical reflection. This project aims to prepare students to take on the role of a Human Resource Generalist. Students will be required to identify a work-related or personal real-life project that they can integrate their learning based on the other Human Resource courses.
Successful students are able to identify a real business/personal life opportunity, create a project plan and determine the most impactful course of action aligned to commonly used HR Management methodologies, processes and practices.
Students who are not able to complete a real-world project in their organization will be provided with a case study applicable to their area of work.
Course Details
By the completion of this course, successful students will be able to:
- Plan and manage a real-life HRM project from start to finish using their project ideas or an assigned case study
- Examine commonly used HR Management methodologies, processes and practices for a real project
- Construct a real-life HR Management artifact or output from scratch for either a real-life project or case study leveraging specific HR practices, projects, documents, models, and commonly used templates, tools, and practices (e.g. A talent management strategy, workforce plan, recruitment strategy and plan document)
- Recommend HR management methodologies, processes and practices, recognizing the impact of local laws and regulations (e.g. municipal, provincial and national etc.), when implementing this experiential learning project demonstrating diverse core HR knowledge
- Create a "Critical Reflective Learning" output that demonstrates a bridge between the knowledge and experience of core HRM processes, principles, methodologies, issues and competencies in connection to their roles as HR professionals using best practices and the professional standards established by organizations such as CPHR (e.g. in driving DEI in their organizations)
