ICT 457 - Microsoft Visio Levels 1 and 2
Course Description
Microsoft Visio Levels 1 and 2 teaches students how to: create and work with stencils and drawing pages; utilize drawing tools; utilize the text editing and formatting tools; use shape connectors; add headers, footers and backgrounds to drawings; create, modify and apply custom styles; master shapes; layers; background pages; how to manipulate shapes; understand shape behaviours, and enter custom shape data.

Course Content
Topics of Instruction
- Creating a new diagram, flowcharts and organization charts, Visio templates, network and data center diagrams, new data graphics, sharepoint workflow diagrams, text boxes, and new validation rules
- Copying, pasting, and duplicating shapes
- Connecting shapes with dynamic connectors
- Using auto connect, auto add, auto delete, quick shapes, the auto align & space feature, shape data, and layers
- Adding text to shapes, screen tips, screen comments, and multiple hyperlinks
- Understanding layers, swimlane diagrams, containers, and groups
- Managing pages and page setup
- Working with background pages and borders
- Editing shape data, org chart layout and appearance, and themes
- Viewing shape data attributes
- Linking diagrams to external data sources, and data to shapes automatically
- Saving drawings in other file formats
Proficiencies
- Students are familiar with the personal computer, keyboard and mouse
- Students have Microsoft Windows skills and knowledge, and can perform the following tasks:
- start and run Windows
- use the taskbar, Start button and Help feature
- use Minimize, Maximize, Restore Down/Up and Close
- use the left and right mouse buttons appropriately
- understand file management techniques
- navigate between files, folders, or drives.
