This workshop is the first in a 2-part series for those who are designing program proposals for a new certificate, diploma or degree. We will focus on the rationale for thoughtfully designing program-level learning outcomes (PLOs) and provide examples and strategies as starting points for articulating your own PLOs. We will also discuss different models for thinking through key considerations for designing certificates that can be combined to earn degrees. There will be opportunities for brainstorming as well as small and large group conversations throughout the session.
By the end of the session, you should be able to:
- Articulate a working understanding of the structure and value of PLOs
- Critique the format of different examples of PLOs
- Begin drafting PLOs appropriate to your context
