Isaac Padron

Real Estate Development Certificate

When Isaac Padron made a career move several years ago and accepted a position with a local land development company, he turned to Continuing Education for learning that could expand his knowledge base.

With a background that included architecture studies in Mexico, and a Bachelor of Urban Studies from the University of Calgary, Isaac started with a course in real estate marketing.

When he found the learning enjoyable and valuable, he decided to go on to a finance course, and then others. He continued taking one course at a time, and eventually completed all of the requirements for the Real Estate Development Certificate.

"What I enjoyed the most was the fact that classes were very dynamic," says Isaac. "Learning with students from industries other than real estate made each subject richer and more interesting.

"Guest speakers who came to classes included lawyers, developers, individuals with many years of experience in residential and commercial real estate, architects, urban planners and people in finance. They were all subject-matter experts who gave excellent presentations."

"Another great aspect of the program was the opportunity to network with professionals from renowned firms. The relationship and their advice was extremely valuable," says Isaac.

"Everything I was learning throughout the program was applicable at work. It is a good feeling to know you are learning from experts."

"I absolutely would recommend the U of C program to those interested in real estate. It was a great experience. I met amazing people and gained substantial knowledge in real estate marketing, finance and land development.

"My learning in the continuing education program definitely helped me make effective decisions in my career."
