Course Description

HR professionals are increasingly expected to act as internal consultants to diagnose business challenges and deliver strategic, people-centered solutions.  

Build essential internal consulting capability by strengthening business acumen, consulting skills, and data-informed approaches that support organizational change and continuous improvement. You will explore the distinct roles and value of internal and external consultants and examine how consulting methodologies contribute to effective business and workforce transformation. 

Develop practical skills for executing internal consulting engagements, including relationship management, project management, and change leadership. The course emphasizes selecting appropriate consulting approaches for diverse organizational environments and applying consulting frameworks to drive business improvement.

  • Core consulting methods, problem diagnosis, and relationship management skills. 

  • Analytics and metrics that build evidence-based HR recommendations. 

  • How to build credibility, trust, and influence with leaders and peers 

  • Driving sustainable change through strategic HR consulting practices 

Course Details

By completion of this course, successful students will be able to: 

  • Distinguish between internal and external consultants, and their scopes of value in business consulting. 

  • Use consulting methodologies and change leadership frameworks to support transformational initiatives and business improvement.

  • Apply the core skills and techniques required for effective internal consulting and executing consulting projects. 

  • Select appropriate consulting approaches to deliver internal consulting services across diverse organizational environments. 

  • Create strategic consulting plans for organizational issues using a continuous improvement approach. 

Proficiencies

This course is for human resources professionals who have experience in a generalist role and have been involved in HR functions beyond data entry—such as recruitment, employee relations, performance management, or policy development.  

This is not an HR entry level course.
