Course Description

Develop Stronger Teams 

“Leave your emotions at the door” is not realistic. Emotions of all kinds, expressed in multiple ways are part of life. How do we connect with each other when faced with conflict, sadness, anger, fear each while needing to get work done? 

These kinds of challenges face leaders and colleagues every day; caring individuals who have no idea what to do with all that emotion.

This workshop series is designed to help managers develop a deeper understanding of the power of emotion in the workplace.  The workshops will underscore the need to understand and learn how to address emotions in leadership and workplace interactions. Topics will include reviewing emotional intelligence and the place of vulnerability; strategies for building resilience and courage; considering burnout and embracing cultural differences. Spread across several months, the sessions will equip participants with practical tools to foster a healthier, more inclusive, and productive work environment.

Program Objectives:

  • Considering why managing emotion in the workplace is important and/or necessary
  • Learning about Emotional Intelligence: Enhance understanding and application of emotional intelligence in everyday workplace interactions.
  • Strengthening Leadership through Emotion: Recognize the influential role leaders and supervisors play in setting an emotional tone and guiding teams.
  • Embracing Vulnerability and Resilience: Learn to view vulnerability as a strength and resilience as a key skill for overcoming challenges.
  • Consider the Need for Emotional Courage: Gain confidence in addressing difficult situations, making tough decisions, and advocating for needed changes.
  • Understanding, Managing and Preventing Burnout: Identify early signs of burnout and implement strategies to maintain well-being and sustain performance.
  • Improve Conflict Management: Acquire techniques to navigate workplace conflicts and emotional upsets effectively.
  • Cultivate Awareness of Cultural Differences: Understand the impact of culture on emotional expression and consider strategies for action. 


Format:

  • Each session will be led by a subject-matter expert or panel.
  • Sessions will include a mix of presentations, interactive discussions, and practical exercises.
  • Participants may receive recommended readings or reflection questions prior to each session and follow up resources after the sessions.
  • Opportunities for Q&A and group dialogue will be provided in every session.

David Cory, M.A., P.C.C.

David Cory is a sought-after leadership development coach, trainer, and consultant specializing in emotional intelligence and its application to workplace success. As the founder of The Emotional Intelligence Training Company, he has worked with leaders and organizations across sectors and around the world to strengthen leadership capacity through emotional intelligence.
