Course Description

This course introduces computer networking, covering fundamental concepts such as network protocols, IP addressing, and network hardware. Students will gain hands-on experience in identifying and analyzing network traffic and routing within less complex networks.

Learning Outcomes

By the completion of this course, successful students will be able to:

  • Describe network protocols, IP addressing, and subnetting

  • Execute basic network traffic analysis and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrate configuring and managing simple network setups

Lectures (Theory Component):

  • Fundamentals of Computer Networking (OSI Model, TCP/IP)
  • Network Protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, DNS)
  • IP Addressing and Subnetting Basics
  • Introduction to Network Devices (Routers, Switches, Firewalls)

Cyber Range-Based Labs (Hands-On Component):

  • Network Traffic Capture and Analysis using Wireshark
  • Basic Network Configuration and Troubleshooting
  • Setting Up a Simple Network in a Simulated Environment
