Course Description

Immerse yourself in the culture and food of two of the word's great cities—New York and Washington, D.C. This ten-day tour will be filled with gourmet food, great art, and the cultural history of the American East Coast. You will indulge in soft-shell crab, blintzes and Ropa Viejo. Work off the calories with strolls through gorgeous gardens and visits to the military memorials of Washington, the Smithsonian, the Metropolitan Museums and historic war sites.


Accompanying Resource Person: John Gilchrist continues to teach Food and Culture courses for Continuing Education at the University of Calgary, and leads travel programs to New York, Washington, New Mexico, France, Italy, Prague and Budapest. John is a Calgary-based food writer and instructor with eight best sellers on dining in the Calgary area.
