Course Description

This course is designed for students who have some basic knowledge of the French language.  Students should be comfortable saying basic phrases and forming simple sentences in the present tense. Conversation topics cover situations in the workplace, at the restaurant, store, airport, etc. Main grammar points include pronouns, adjectives and adverbs, and the past tense with auxiliary verbs to have and to be.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand a variety of communicative situations presented in elementary but authentic French.
  • Introduce yourself, talk about likes and dislikes, state your age, introduce your family, express your feelings, describe your city and yourself, talk about clothing, purchases and everyday activities
  • Express events in the past tense
  • Give orders in French
  • Write simple texts

Notes

French is spoken in all classes, even at the beginner level.
