In order to maintain program relevancy and to respond to changes in the fields of study or in legislation, it is sometimes necessary to implement revisions to our programs.
Continuing Education has been made aware of the upcoming release of a 7th edition of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) in the first quarter of 2021. When the 7th Edition is released we will begin developing a new project management certificate that will be available for admission in January 2022. The current Project Management Fundamentals Certificate will be discontinued as of December 14, 2021.
In these circumstances, we make every effort to provide our students with an opportunity to complete their current program. Below are the options for your consideration.
What are my options?
CURRENT CERTIFICATE STUDENTS:
1. Complete the current program
If you are admitted to the current Project Management Fundamentals Certificate program, you have until December 14, 2021 to complete the core courses. All core courses and several optional courses have been scheduled to allow students to complete the current certificate before the deadline.
2. Wait and register for the new program
Depending on the number of core courses you have completed in the current program, you may wish to wait and transfer to the new certificate when it is available. We anticipate launching the new certificate in January 2022, with course registration beginning spring 2021.
1. Complete BMC 299 and BMC 290 first
BMC 299 Project Management Level I and BMC 290 Leadership in Project Management can be transferred to the new program. If you are just beginning the Project Management Fundamentals Certificate program, consider completing these two courses before December 14, 2021. Then register for the new certificate program when it becomes available.
Please review your options and decide what is right for you. If you still have questions or need assistance, please contact us.
