FIF 197 Ancient Maya: An Introduction




Course Description

Explore the world of the Ancient Maya, one of history's great civilizations. Investigate the origins of Maya culture, highlighting its architectural, artistic, literary, and economic height during the Classic Period. Follow the decline and collapse of Maya civilization in the southern lowlands, and subsequent Post-Classic transformations on the eve of the Spanish Conquest. Finally, we will explore how these still-vibrant people live today.
