HUM 197 History of Europe Part 2 : From the Reformation to the European Union




Course Description

This course surveys the history of Western civilization since 1500, with a focus on the political, military, social, economic, intellectual, and cultural life of European societies.  It covers the early modern period and the contemporary age, as well as the development of nation-states and imperial powers.  It will also analyze the rise of Prussia and its effect on Europe leading to two world wars and to the eventual establishment of a European Union centered on Germany and France.  Full multimedia lectures with rare photos and videos.  No textbook required.
