HUM 190 Jerusalem




Course Description

Jerusalem is an important city and symbol in Christian, Jewish and Muslim faiths. Examine the causes and conduct of the Roman assault in 70 AD, which led to the destruction of Jerusalem. The political context of the siege, the military aspects of Roman warfare, siege warfare, and subjugation of conquered people will be discussed as they relate to the events of this turning point in Jerusalem's history. Also discuss the greater effects on world history, western civilization and the world's great religions.
