FIF 185 Reading Prose: Irish Fiction

Course Description

Read and discuss three novels and three short story collections of selected Irish writers. Along with an appreciation for these writers' skill in storytelling (one of Ireland's three great gifts, according to Irish myth), the class will explore some of the cultural and historical realities of Ireland.

The six books we'll discuss are by some of Ireland's best known and most respected writers:

The total amazon.ca price for these titles is approximately $90 and students will need to have the books available for reading and for class. 

We'll start with Edna O'Brien, and the rest of the reading order will be established during the first class.
