TRA 120 New York City - Broadway, Opera And Museums




Course Description

December is truly a magical time in New York as the city dresses up and gets decked out for the holiday season. Come and experience the season. Visit fabulous museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern. Broadway shows; the Metropolitan Opera; Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular; awesome nightlife; fine restaurants; shopping; and sights like the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center's Christmas decor, a city tour, and Spanish Harlem. Participants will have free time to explore and experience this metropolis on their own.

Accompanying Resource Person: John Reid, saxophonist and flutist, is the prairie regional director of the Canadian Music Centre. He has taught jazz history at the U of C since 1984, and has recorded two compact discs: Island shuffle (1993) and Caravan (2003). He has led trips to Cuba and New York.
