ART 305 Ancient Greek Art and Architecture

Course Description

This course is a survey of painting, sculpture, and architecture of the Greek world from the Bronze Age (c. 1700 BCE) to the end of the Hellenistic period (1st century BCE). You will gain an understanding of the chronological development of ancient Greek art as it progressed through various historical periods. Different artistic and architectural styles will be analyzed within the context of archaeological material that will be used to illuminate social and cultural history.
