FIF 133 Writing Poetry

Course Description

This course will begin with an historical overview of poetic periods and an introduction to a variety of poetic forms.Through a combination of assigned exercises and free options, writers will explore aspects of individual voice and subject matter. As the course proceeds, these poems (one or two each week), along with appropriate examples, will be discussed in an encouraging workshop setting. By the end of the session, participants will have developed a portfolio of 10 -20 poems.
