CPE 127 Models for Suburban Development

Course Description

Learn about old models of suburban development, typified by auto-centric segregated land uses as a core framework, and compare those models with newer form-based models that are more consistent with traditional town planning principles. Discuss the developer's perspective with respect to the economic, social, and environmental impacts of these two models, including consideration of market-acceptance, infrastructure demands, cost-structures, financing options, and more. Discuss the entire development process from land sourcing through to marketing and sales, exploring fully the multidisciplinary nature of suburban community development.
