FIF 127 Elder Wisdom in the Movies

Course Description

Some movies are close encounters with the stories of our lives. They help us identify the many voices inside us and delve deeply into our feelings, desires, and passions. Some are a rendezvous with the shadow sides of life. They encourage us to exercise our values and to take stock of our commitments. They show us how others have dealt with change and loss, success and failure, suffering and death. They open a window into the profound mysteries of life and love, good and evil. Themes of the "sage-ing" process including life review, life repair, approaching elder hood, intergenerational dialogue, mentoring, cycle of our lives, forgiveness, facing mortality and discovering your inner elder will be discussed after viewing selected movies together.
