BMC 170 Communication Strategic Planning: An Introduction

Course Description

Discover the basic structure of communication planning and how it supports business goals and strategies. Learn how organizations operating in a knowledge and service-based economy rely on productive, mutually beneficial, two-way communication relationships for success, and that these relationships result from planned and deliberate efforts to align organizational goals with those of their key stakeholders. Through this course, develop foundational understanding of the basic concepts of strategic planning.

Course Details


Upon successful completion of the course you will be able to:

  • Develop a communications strategy based on research results
  • Identify the interests and needs of target audiences
  • Define communication goals and measurable communication objectives that clearly link to organizational goals
  • Develop tactical plans leveraging communication tools and processes to achieve communication objectives
  • Strategically evaluate the outcome of a communication plan and define its contribution towards organizational goals
  • Leverage a general communication planning template that can be applied to any communication problem
